Serving Size: makes approximately 1 dozen biscuits
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 cup yellow cornmeal, stone-ground 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons sugar 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut up 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon milk
1. Preheat oven to 375°.
2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix well. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is coarse and crumb-like. Add milk and stir until combined.
3. Drop by spoonfuls (about 1/2 cup each) onto a baking sheet, allowing 1" between each biscuit. Bake approximately 20 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from oven and cool.
