Serving Size: makes approximately 1 dozen biscuits
4 cups all purpose flour 4 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon sugar 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut up 2 cups buttermilk
1. Preheat oven to 375°.
2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is coarse and crumb-like. Add buttermilk. Stir until dough comes together. (Dough will be sticky.)
3. Place dough on lightly floured work surface. Pat dough to 1" thickness. Use a 2 1/2" round cookie cutter or biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits. Place on baking sheet and bake 18-20 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from oven and cool.
